Gášek, Daniel ; Keith, Petr (referee) ; Vojtová, Lea (advisor) ; Kalousek, Lubor (advisor)
The aim of the thesis was to create documentation for building permit and a part of building design documentation, based on architectural study prepared in subject named AG34 – Architectural Design Studio IV. Main content of the study was reconstruction of the former Zlín county court building and finding a new function for the object that is situated near Zlín castle, Míru square and Svobody park. Basic idea of the project was to utilize as large part of the prime building as is possible, avoid increasing of the built-up area and design a context-friendly object that will bring some new life in this part of the town. Important was also underlining of the most impressive parts of the building that are baroque vaults in the ground floor and frontage from 1922 in the “Czech Modernism” style. Worrisome extension from the 1990’s got a lighter “Czech Modernism” expression, its scale was humanized using brickwork and a new terrace with a clear shot at the Zlín castle was created. The parterre is now friendlier and invites passers-by to visit the new micro-brewery. A literary café with a small gallery provides some cultural activities and also a bicycle rental is here to provide some physical activities too. Upper floors consist a pension and a hostel.
The Renovation of the former District Court in Zlín
Křenková, Anna ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor) ; Petříček, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis was to produce project documentation for building permission and part of the detail building documentation. The project was based on an architectural study made during the course AG34 Architectural Design Studio in 2015. The topic of the study was reconstruction and finding a new function for a building of the former seat of the district court of Zlín. The building is situated in an attractive location in the centre of Zlín, at the edge of park Sad svobody, near the Zlín palace and on the walking path between the main city square and the main bus station. The former court building is currently the city’s property and is in a decrepit state, conserved without any function. During it’s life, it has undergone several structural adjustments and has got several extensions. It is not protected by law for it’s historical significance, however, there are baroque vaults on the ground floor from the time the building served as a brewery, characteristic facade with lesenes and divided windows. The new main function of the building is connected to its original purpose, there is designed a new restaurant with a minibrewery, beer spa, short term accommodation of two categories – hotel garni and hostel, and a small shop with spa cosmetics. The aim of the new function was to make use of the building location lucratively considering the resources needed for reconstruction, to emphasise its interesting historical points and bring new life in the vicinity of the building. The newly designed extensions and adjustment of the former ones are meant to functionally and aesthetically complement the current building in an appropriate way.
